Mapping Andalucia

In Andalucia’s light context I started capturing photographic paths, where individuals moved around streets, parks and sea-shores. The streets, parks and coast line compose an extrahordinary organic pattern where construction materials and natural resources are combined to define the barriers and establish the threshold between vehicles and pedestrian. This organic and simultanous artificiallity in which cities and locations are conceived are the target of my lens.

The old town of Andalusian cities are arranged as an organic labyrinth of narrow streets that protect its habitants form the killing sun. Old construction practices tended to utilize materials such as stone, and calc; thick walls that defend people from the climatic offensive. The multicultural – historical constructed city space is at the same time a socially hermetic context.

Andalucia has been redeveloping and readapting its urban spaces in oder to fullfil contemporary citizens’ needs, converting public space into citizens’ friendly environments.
