Mapping Offenbach

By comparing cultural environments I have become more aware of issues concerning space design and the implications that the construction of space has into particular citizens groups. The spaces change their denomination and function readapting their public offer to join the internal change that the population fluctuation requires. Like it happens in Offenbach am Main. Its roots are tight to wellness and industry, it was a recovering place for Frankfurter citizens and it has become the city with highest immigration rate in Germany. Its economic activity was supported by the bookbinding and graphic industry, and in its surroundings Senefelder discovered the Lithographic process, essential to now a days printing graphic processes.

German’s population is concerned about ecological issues and the impact that human activities have on it. The reason for this might be the chemical pollution that the country suffered before the 70s. Since then, the population consciousness and political responsibilities have been providing the country with actions that urge the necessity of promote recycling, natural sources consciousness and preservation. The rivers are the first indicator of sustainable ecology in the country, and it is next to them where most cities build their lives up. The rivers are meeting and leisure places, sport practice environments and community activities places. The printing and binding origins of the city have become less evident and important in contemporary life, and it is thanks to conservation activities (Ledermuseum) that they are not forgotten, being witness and showcase of their leather and printing historical roots.
